WebAt the start in the first paragraph, she comes off as relaxed and somnambulant whereas in the last paragraph she's drying her hands, putting on her slippers and ready to speak to the girl. You could also talk about the volta when the girl is spotted and how the focus shifts from the overgrown garden immediately.
