WebJan 11, 2013 · Please reread Unfinished Tales. Christopher Tolkien writes that (paraphrasing) the character of Galadriel was a continuous work in progress. That is to say, the Galadriel of the Lord of the Rings was not the same as the Galadriel of the Silmarillion. As far as Tolkien contradicting himself, he says as much in "Letters".
